Top Ten Tuesday #16: Top Ten Books that will make you cry.

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week they post a new top ten list and ask fellow bloggers to share their lists on that topic.

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday topic is: Top Ten Books that will make you cry.

If you know me by now, you know how much I enjoy my emotional reads, I like having my heart ripped into shreds and going to work the next day with big puffy eyelids. These books which have such an emotional impact on me end up being the books I remember the most amongst the 100 or so books I read a year. So here are my Top Ten Eleven books that will make you cry.

All three of these books were written beautifully, I remember trying to read through tears streaming down my face. They were full with hope, heartache and beautiful relationships. I suggest if you decide to pick up any of these books you, leave your whole day free, as once you start, you won't want to be doing anything else.

The Harry Potter series just became so difficult to read from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix onwards. But these two books just broke my heart so many times, at times I just wanted to stop reading, but I needed to find out how things would end.

Where She Went and Jellicoe Road I picked up thanks to numerous recommendations from my friends on Goodreads, and I'm so glad that I picked them up, as they were both gorgeous.

These middle books in a series are my favourite ever, not only were they full with non stop action and gorgeous writing, all three authors knew how to stab you in the heart when you least expected it.

Did any of these books make it to your list of books which made you cry? Also are there any books that I need to add to my tbr? Any recommendations are welcome. Also I think this tissue box is exactly what I need when I pick up anymore emotional books.

Ooh I forgot about Jenny Han's Summer series. And my obsession with Kristin Cashore is well documented, so needless to say I whole heartedly agree. Harry Potter made my list as well, but I haven't read any of the others on this list yet.

I cried during If I Stay, but not Where She Went. But I still loved it as much as the first one. Harry Potter made my list as well! Great picks!

This is Not a Test almost made my list too. I definitely cried during that one. Those HP books from The Order on all got me. The Half-Blood Prince the hardest because that was really unexpected for me. If He Had Been With Me is on my To-Read List. Can't wait to get to it!!

I am a crier. Most of the book endings make me cry. But the ones that leave a grieving impact on me are very few. I do have 'Sing me to Sleep' in my TBR list. And I LOVED Harry Potter series and Kristin Cashore's 'Graceling' & 'Fire'.
One of my Goodreads friend recommended 'Me Before You' by Jojo Moyes to me which proved to be a very good heart wrenching tear jerker book for me and still I love it. Also 'The Sky is Everywhere' is another wonderful heart warming read ! I'd recommend this book to everyone !!

YES. Maybe One Day is so damn emotional and the HP books make me cry when it's a happy scene or sad scene.

Fab list! <33

Great list! I agree on the Harry Potter series, however, it didn't make my list, I forgot about it! *shock horror* I also have to admit that If He Been With Me is on my TBR list, and you've just made me want it even more. I have to say, I'll be reading If I Stay soon, so maybe I'll share your emotions when it comes to the sequel too :)

I was surprised that Deathly Hallows didn't make it onto a lot of lists. I think it's one of those books you don't usually associate with tears, which is why it got skipped, but definitely Jellicoe Road and TFiOS had me bawling and Where She Went was so beautiful tragic. Fantastic Top Ten, Jasprit!

Books rarely make me cry but that's because I tend to stay away from highly emotional books. I have If I Stay coming up my TBR and I'm sort of dreading it a little. I don't want to end up a snotty mess after it. You should have seen my state after Flawed. I was a complete mess and didn't want to read anything for days!
Great list, Jasprit. :)

You know, I cry at books I don't expect to cry with. Totally thought I was going to bawl with TFIOS but just shed a little tear. It's usually with romance or when there's an animal that dies that I cry. Weird, I know.

Your's is the first I have seen with Cashore's Fire on it! Interesting. I probably should have added HP Deathly Hallows--only because I cried that it was coming to an end:)
CP2--yessss...Oh my goodness, that epilogue?? Total sobfest:)

I'm not a big crier but I'm pretty sure Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince made me cry... I honestly cannot remember it was so long ago!

Great haul! If I Stay made my list, the first book before Where She Went, as that absolutely made me sob. I got Jellicoe Road for Christmas and can't wait to read that one. My TTT :)

Love that tissue box. So true. The later Harry Potter books were definitely emotional! I cried at the end of The Lovely Bones. Such an emotional read! I would recommend Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert if you haven't read it yet.

So many awesome books. Jellicoe Road! That made me cry too. One of my favorite books. <3 Sigh. And FIRE! Sobs. So good. I'll be reading Maybe One Day pretty soon, I hope :D Thank you for sharing. <3

Thanks for the recommendation, I think I've heard of that book before, but not paid it much close attention

I actually have a copy of Me Before You which I completely forgot about, so thank you for the recommendation. I'm definitely a crier too, I usually cry over the smallest thing in stories!

I remember feeling exactly the same way with Flawed, I did like If I Stay, but I think Where She Went had more of a emotional impact on me. I can't wait to see how you get on with them! :)

Jellicoe Road was a famous pick this week so I know I need to read that one asap. Ah, Fire was very emotional?! I'm now even more nervous AND excited. Love the list :)

Great list! The last two HPs made me a hot mess of tears. Here's mine if you want to stop by

PS I love the tissue box.

HP YES!!!!! Oh, Sirius and Dumbledore and oh, just EVERYONE! Heh, I cried more during If I Stay than Where She Went, but they were both emotional. My sobbing fests always include Colleen Hoover and, well, The Sea of Tranquility is another ugly crying book for me. I love this list so hard though and you'll be glad to know that I'm going to read The Immortal Rules soon (I hope) :D

I'm such a crybaby. Even with a scene that most of others would find to be heartwarming or touching, it would make me cry too. But of course I cried so hard on If I Stay and Where She Went, too.
Sing Me to Sleep isn't really recognized here in Indonesia, but I remember that it's such a beautiful book, too. Somehow the book reminds me of TFiOS a lot.

Oh man, If He Had Been With Me and Flawed made me sob my little heart out :'( Even thinking about them....dagnabbit Jasprit! *goes searching for tissues*

Oh yes Jasprit, I definitely cried at the end of The Eternity Cure! I'm both terrified of and excited for The Forever Song. I worry my little heart will take an even bigger beating than it already has, but I have to know what happens! I still need to read Graceling/Fire/Bitterblue and If I Stay/Where She Went. One day I'll get to them, I swear!

Great list! harry potter did have me shedding tears myself. I have not read the rest but did see some emotional reviews about them.

The ones of these I have read, yep, totally made me cry! I was so emotional with the last two Harry Potters! I was so shocked with the death in book 6. I didn't see it coming. Maybe One Day is coming up on my reading schedule and I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

Jasprit said...

Oh I can't wait until you read Fire Sunny, it was so so amazing and of course emotional!
